A Peek at my Long Range Plans

I've been working hard this week to get my long range plans done and I think I finally settled on a plan I am happy with. Moving to a new grade with a new group of teachers is going to be a challenge in that I'm not sure everyone will be on the same page with me. I have made certain changes to their LRP's from last year based on what I think these students need to be ready for 3rd grade next year {since that's where I coming from}. Regardless, I think I have to do what is best for my students!

I created two formats. The first is a glance at the whole year month by month. This is something that I think will be great to send home with parents at the beginning of the year so they know what they can expect. The second format is mostly for me and my own planning purposes. I've updated and changed the format of the latter one a bit to better suit my needs.

These long range plans reflect the 2nd grade Common Core standards for Math and ELA, but 2nd grade South Carolina standards for Science and Social Studies.

You can download your own copy HERE and edit them however you would like. You will need the fonts KG Always a Good Time, KG Miss Kindergarten, and KG One More Night to view the file correctly. I recommend having these fonts installed before you download and open the file since it is editable. If you do not know how to download and install new fonts, please click HERE for a simple tutorial form the Kayla Aimee Writes Blog!

I hope you find these useful! Happy Planning!

  2. I love it! Thanks for sharing. I particularly liked the LRP for parents. What a clever and easy idea to keep parents informed of what to expect for the school year. I wrote a quick blog post about it and linked it back to your blog - http://sciencenotebooking.blogspot.com/2014/07/long-range-plan-for-parents.html. Hope you don't mind :)

  5. Love this format! This is so easy to follow. I feel it will be very easy to use when lesson planning. Thanks for including an editable format so I can alter some for NC teaching. This is my second year teaching 2nd grade and I think this format will help me tons!

  7. This will be great for planning my year. My copy isn't editable though. Do I need to do something to make it so?

    1. Did you click the "Download copy HERE," link?

    2. Yes, I did. When I click to try to edit, it only lets me drag everything around on the page. If I double click it brings me to the "Format Picture" menu. Is there something in Power Point I need to click to make it editable?

    3. I don't know what to tell you. It's a a ppt file. All you should have to do is click on the text to type. Did you also download the fonts?

    4. K well I've had other people test it out for me and it works fine for them so I'm not sure if you have an old version of ppt or what the problem is. I'm sorry you're having trouble! I can try to emailing it to you but I'm not sure if that will help either.

  11. Ginger, this is awesome!!! I'm actually in the process of doing this for the upcoming year. I've already started but it quickly becomes overwhelming. This will be a good guideline and help motivate me to get it finished!! I appreciate it!
