Tutorial: Making Editable Files with Purchased Graphics

Hola friends!! I just learned how to do something really cool this weekend! I had been wondering how to do this FORVER! I emailed Brooke from Once Upon a First Grade Adventure to share with me how she did it.  Thank you Brooke!!

Here is the 5 minute video! At the beginning of the video I think I said how to make an editable PDF, but I actually meant an editable file like Powerpoint or Word!

I hope to be uploading the binder sets today!

There will be two sets of 10 themes each.

I will not offer them as individual sets due to the mass amount of time it would take to create all those TPT and TN descriptions and such, so please don't ask me to. =)

Hope this tutorial was helpful! If you have anything else you would like to see done, just leave me a comment and I would be happy to try!

  2. This is so helpful. Do you know how to have landscape and portrait pages in one pdf or powerpoint?

    1. I have often wondered how to do this! I think we were discussing this on FB recently too! haha You cannot do it in one powerpoint. You have to create a new powerpoint and somehow merge the two. It seemed too complicated for me so I just look sideways when I create mine. lol

    2. You can download a program called CombinePDFs (for Mac) for free. I found this http://foxyutils.com/mergepdf/ for PCs. Save the landscape portions and portrait portions separately as PDFs then merge them using the program/website. Hope this is helpful!

    4. Hey Miss Nelson, You save the slide you want as a jpeg or png and then you insert the image in your product and turn it sideways. It is super easy. Just one extra step. :)

  11. I'm so glad you posted this. I just found out how to do this 2 weeks ago and was able to make my teacher planners editable. I think this is so helpful for teachers. In the course of over the 2 weeks, for me, for some reason the jpgs came out a little fuzzy when I inserted them so I save them as a png now. pngs take up more memory though. So, in case this happens out there to any of you--save them as pngs and then insert those images :) Night-night!

  12. I hope you don't mind. I made a tutorial to extend on your idea a bit where you can make the saved jpg the background of the slide as well instead of just inserting the picture in case you don't want to worry about moving the picture when adding the new text.

  14. Thank you! Your directions were super simple, thank you again! How do you show video of your computer? Are you just pointing the camera right at your screen?

    1. Christina, I use a program called Snag It that records the screen and my voice. This program costs money but you can use Jing and it is free. The only thing with Jing is that your videos can't be longer than 5 minutes. =)

  15. WOW!!! I was wondering about this too... and even looked at purchasing the Adobe Acrobat version that allows this. This is SO MUCH easier (and cheaper too!)

  16. Ginger, has anyone had any troubles downloading your product because it's powerpoint and not pdf? Just wondering if it's gonna be as user friendly for customers.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

  17. Thank you for posting this! I'd been thinking about starting a blog and making some TPT things but didn't want to spend money on photoshop. Your tutorial encouraged me to play with PowerPoint and I realized I could do most of what I needed with it. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Thanks,

  25. You are AMAZING! Thank you so much for doing this. Like so many others, I have wondered how to do this. I came to this post because someone linked to it on the TpT forum. I actually came to the forum because I was wondering how to save a PDF as "read only", which I still haven't figured out. I thought that by saving as a PDF, nobody could save/copy images from your file. I guess I was wrong! Anyway, this tip will be very useful for me. I'm your newest blog follower!
