Hello blog land! I hope you have all had a fabulous Cyber Monday and Tuesday Sale! I picked up an awesome South Carolina Explorers Trading Cards file from Carrie Whitlock which you can purchase by clicking on the image below!
I am so in love with this idea and we are just finishing this unit so I emailed her and asked if I could create an editable and printable template to post on my blog and she was so kind and generous to say yes! I recommend purchasing her file because it has an example and rubrics for Social Studies and Language Arts!
Here is my editable file. You don't just have to use it on SC explorers. You could adapt it for anything! I inclded two versions. One version you can just print and let students write or draw in or you could let your students edit one on the computer adding pictures and text that you can manipulate any way you like!
Just click the file above to download your copy! (Clipart is from Melonheadz Illustrations)
On top of my trading card purchase, I also purchased tons of graphics from Ashley Hughes! I just love her cute clip art!! There are other things that made it into my shopping cart as well, but I'll save that for the Blog Hoppin' post!
Happy almost Hump Day!!
These are really cool Ginger!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You are so generous to always share. I have purchased your products, too and I love your work!
ReplyDeleteSuch a neat idea!!! I downloaded your trading cards and bought Carrie's file! I teach California explorers, so this will be great! Thanks so much for sharing! I can't wait to use it!

Thank you Ginger! I appreciate you making the template to go along with the project. I absolutely adore it, Bravo!!! What a small world! I had seen your blog once before and had no idea that you were in my district. How funny is that? Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Carrie
Your template is incredible. You clearly love the same fonts as me, which helps, but you also make it so darn useable.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

By the way, I meant to mention to our friends in other states that I have just an "Explorers Trading Card" project as well. On that one there is actually a second version of the sheet with a blank where the explorer names go!
ReplyDeleteThanks again Ginger! Happy Teaching everyone!
Carrie
Thanks for your awesome idea Carrie! I love it! =)
ReplyDeleteUp here in FREEZING cold Canada, we are studying Early European Explorers as part of the Ontario Curriculum in Grade 6. I was looking for an interesting way to have the students research and present different explorers. I usually do a poster project, but I LOVE this idea! Thanks for the timing! I am your newest follower...come and visit me at http:teachingisagift.blogspot.ca. You might find some FREEBIES you can use on my blog too!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get it to download. :-(
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm from BC, and part of the grade 4 curriculum is settlers and First nations contacts. We're using the trading cards idea (from someone else, actually!), but I was wondering what you did for the "trading" part? Or if you or anyone else incorporated a trading part? (They're trading cards, after all!) Also, thanks for the post, I found it while googling. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting these! What a great idea! Thanks again!
ReplyDeletePerfect timing! We have maybe another week of Weather before we hit the trail with Explorers. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome! Thank you for sharing!

Exactly what I was looking for! Having my 5th graders do an explorers webquest for European explorers (Columbus, Caboto, Vespucci, ect) but I did not like the trading card template they had used. Will definately be printing these out to extent our knowledge about exploreres. Thanks for Sharing!

ReplyDeleteLove the idea...plan to modify to fit an icebreaker I'm doing at the beginning of the year...students will create their own cards and trade with classmates until everyone has a complete set... Will see how it goes. I'll always have thought it should have worked if it doesn't LOL
ReplyDeleteHi, I came across your Trading Card post when I did a search for Explorers activities. I can't get the file to download, is this something you still have or can I purchase from TPT? Thank you!

I stumbled across your Blog when I was looking for Explorer Ideas. I can't get the template to download, I get a message that says, "File not found." By any chance, do you still have this available?
ReplyDeleteThank You!
