Hear All Assessment Recorder Giveaway

Hey all! I am so excited to share some news with you! Like many other bloggers out there, I was contacted by Jenny at Learnning Resources and offered the chance to try out some of their amazing products in my classroom!

The Hear All Assessment Recorder is a teachers dream!
I was able to use it during Guided Reading groups and record the students reading aloud to me. As a teacher, sometimes I am not sure if I am catching on to all the mistakes students make and whether or not I am giving them the best feedback to improve their fluency and comprehension, so I think this tool is great because you can play it back for your colleagues and have them give you some suggestions also!

It comes with a USB so you can just plug it in and download the files right to your computer!

There are so many other great uses for this assessment tool! It picks up EVERY little sound so you don't miss a thing! I know sometimes when I am listening to a student read, I have a hard time hearing them with background noise, so this is great for that!

Now, you will never need another student monitor when you have to leave the classroom for a minute! Just hit play and go! When you come back, you can listen to see who was getting into mischief! I love this idea!

We are doing Guided Reading bench marking in about a week so I am excited to use this to help me code their running records. Sometimes the kids go so fast, I can't keep up with the coding and listening! This will definitely be a great help!

  1. I would love to have this in my classroom. The background noise often distracts me during groups as well and this would help a lot. Thanks!!

  10. I can think of multiple uses: 1. as stated above by others ... assessment. 2. The students can use this to interview others for writing projects. That way they don't have to worry about writing everything down quickly and can actually focus on questioning and listening. 3. Students can record themselves to hear their own fluency.

  17. OMG - I would use this for everything!!! Currently, we're in the middle of DRA2 testing. This would be a huge help as I could use the recorder to record my kids and play it back later to better analyze what they do while reading and really analyze miscues and comprehension behaviors.

It'd be really cool to use constantly! :) I'd need tons of batteries!

  27. How neat! I think I'd use this for reading like you do, but I'd also use it at a center. I could record myself giving step-by-step directions and then let the students play it back in case they forget. Ooh! And I could ALSO use it when I have a substitute -- leave a message for my class about how they should be good and treat our guest teacher with the utmost respect! Ack! I hope I win. :)
